Aalborg Airport (AAL) is located on Ny Lufthavnsvej along Thistedvej/Route 55, which connects to Route 11 with direct access to European Routes 39 and 45, in a suburb to Aalborg called Nørresundby, also called the twin town of Aalborg. The drive from Aalborg to Aalborg Airport takes around 15 minutes.

Parking Options at Aalborg Airport (AAL)

Free Parking

Aalborg Airport offers free parking to all travellers and has more than 5000 parking spaces. The free parking spaces are divided into 4 main parking areas, and all are located outside and in a short walking distance to the airport’s single terminal. The four different main parking lot areas are:

• P1 with 2089 parking spaces
• P2 with 450 parking spaces
• P3 with 1405 parking spaces
• P4 with 600 parking spaces

Paid Parking

At Aalborg Airport you also have the option of paid Direct Parking. The Direct Parking is located just outside the airport terminal.

It is not possible to book or pay for Direct Parking in advance, but there are always available spaces to park your car in. For frequent fliers there is the option of purchasing a season pass for Direct Parking, to save time and money.

Electric Car Parking

At Aalborg Airport (AAL) you have the possibility to park and charge your electric car at a charging station while you are traveling, which allows you to have your car fully charged and ready to drive upon your return.

You will find three available charging stations at the P3 parking lot with two sockets each, allowing a total of 6 electric cars to be parked and charged there at any time. The conditions for charging are compatible with the modern electric car based on international charging standards.

You can charge your 3-phase electric car (11kW) with a Type 2 socket (Mennekes), but there might be a difference depending on what your car is set to receive. You need an E.ON subscription to be able to charge your electric car at these charging points, but when you have one you only need a 230V receiver and a regular 10A plug to charge your car here.

Different cars have different battery capacity so charging time may vary from model to model, and unless it’s a Tesla, a full charge may usually be achieved within 4-6 hours.

Tesla Charging Units

Aalborg Airport (AAL) also has four units of Tesla charging stations located to the right after the entrance to the Direct Parking area, closest to the main entrance.
