AALBORG AIRPORT (AAL) INFORMATION

Aalborg Airport (AAL), (Danish - Aalborg Lufthavn), is located approximately 4 miles/6.5 km in the city of Nørresundby, just across Limfjord bridge and the city of Aalborg in the northern part of the Danish peninsula called Jutland.

The nearest alternative airport for domestic travelers is Sindal Airport (CNL), which is located approximately 38.2 miles/61.4 km north of Aalborg Airport. The nearest airport for international travelers is Aarhus Airport (AAR), located approximately 79 miles/127 km to the southeast of Aalborg Airport (AAL).
Aalborg Airport was the second national airport to open in Denmark and it serves both as a civilian and a military airport. As a civilian airport it serves both domestic and international flights. The airport officially opened in 1938, although its main route Aalborg-Copenhagen, the first domestic Danish route, originated on September 4th 1936.

The present terminal building is from 2001, but during 2007 and 2013 the terminal size and the numbers of gates were increased. 1,521,658 passengers came through the airport in 2017. Aalborg Airport has two runways of 8694,226 ft./2650 m each.

Disability at Aalborg Airport

For disabled travelers the Aalborg airport obliges to EU regulations for the same comfort and rights, both at the airport and the flights, as all other passengers have. If assistance is required it is booked with the ticket through the airline or travel agency, a minimum of 48 hours ahead of flight, and the airport’s specially trained staff will be automatically informed on how and when to assist you.

Parking at Aalborg Airport

Aalborg Airport has more than 5000 parking spaces for free use, a paid Direct Parking option, and if you drive an electric car there are charging points available for your use (provided that you have an E.ON subscription), as well as charging units for your Tesla.

Terminal Information

Aalborg Airport (AAL) has one single terminal that serves both departing and arriving travelers, both domestic and international. The terminal is divided into two separate levels.

Level 1

On this level we find the entrances and the terminal common area for everyone that arrives to or departures from the airport, and their companions. Here we find rental car representatives, ATM's, transport ticket machines, a hairdresser, the lost and found department, an information desk and other useful amenities like a hot dog stand and vending machines.

On this level we also find the seven check-in desks, the bag drop area, the security check with a fast track option, and once past the security check there is also the duty free shop, places to eat and drink, a few shops, and the VIP Lounge.

The 5 arrival gates (gates 1-5) and the 2 separate arrival halls, located at each end of the terminal, with individual luggage carousels are also located on this level.

Level 2

On level 2 we find the departure areas, which include the 6 departure gates (gates 6-11). You can also find restaurants and toilets.

ATM's

There are ATM's from Danske Bank located to the left right inside the main entrance. You can withdraw Danish DKK, Euro or British Pound. Please note that these ATM's are located outside of the secured area so if you need to withdraw money before your flight make sure to do so before going through the security check.

Smoking at the airport

All smoking, including e-cigarettes, is prohibited inside the terminal, and on your way to and from your plane. If you wish to smoke before departing please do so before going past the security check. If you wish to smoke after arriving, please wait until you are outside the entrance of the terminal building, where smoking is allowed.

Transfers

Taxis are available for walk-up during the busiest hours of the day, and for pre-booking during other hours. There are also several bus lines running from the bus stop just outside the hotel. Options of limousine or ride-sharing are also available.
